Title
  • The Name of this Organisation shall be The North West Zoroastrian Community (hereinafter known as the 'NWZC')
Aims & Objectives
  • To allow and secure maximum participation from all and as many Zoroastrians in and around North West of England, and any other
    Zoroastrians in the United Kingdom.
  • To develop programmes and plans to enhance, preserve, and disseminate knowledge of the Zoroastrian religion, its culture and its heritage.
  • To create a Building Fund towards a future Zoroastrian Community and Heritage Centre in the North.
Membership
  • Membership is open to all members born into the Zoroastrian faith, including all who are the children of one Zoroastrian parent.
  • Membership will be extended to non-Zoroastrians as ‘Associate’ members.
  • They will be able to attend all functions of the NWZC but will not have voting rights at the AGM on issues related to the management of the NWZC and
    matters related to funding.
  • Membership subscriptions as agreed at the A.G.M. each year will be charged for the current year. Anyone joining after 1st of May and before the ensuing
    AGM in any year will be deemed a fully paid up member until the AGM of the following year.
  • Any changes in these charges will be agreed upon at the AGM.
Organisational Bodies
  • The Managing Body of the NWZC will be an Executive Committee of seven members (i.e. 4 Officers and 3 Committee members) and will consist of:
    • Chairperson
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
    • Youth Officer and
    • Three others.
  • No member will be allowed to stand for the office of the
    • Chairperson
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer, unless s/he has served as a member of the Executive Committee previously for at least two years.
  • Each of the officers and members of the Executive Committee will hold their elected position for an initial period of one year, but can be eligible for
    re-election.
  • The officers can remain in any one office up to a maximum of three years, and may not be re-elected to any office for at least one year thereafter,
    unless in special circumstances and as agreed by the majority at the AGM.
  • The officers may stand for re-election at any time, if there is no other candidate standing for that office.
Youth Officer
  • The Youth Officer will aim to build, enliven and cultivate youth involvement and participation within the NWZC through social, cultural and educational
    activities inside and outside of the NWZC functions and gatherings.
Gatherings/ Functions
  • The Executive Committee will prepare a flexible annual programme covering about six events and functions, including a Jashan, an outing and the AGM.
  • The Youth Officer should organise at least one function for the youth (that is, all aged under 25) every year, in addition to the normal functions of the
    NWZC.
Annual General/ SpecialGeneral Meeting
  • The Annual General meeting (A.G.M.) will be held on any convenient date during the month of July each year.
  • A Special General Meeting can be called by any member of the NWZC (excluding ‘Associate’ members) provided due notice is given in writing to
    the Secretary or chairperson, stating purpose of the meeting, and supported by at least one-tenth
    of the voting members. The Secretary is then obliged to call this Special General Meeting within ONE month of receiving this notice.
  • Election of the Executive Committee and the Youth Officer will be conducted at the A.G.M., and will be voted upon by members present at that Meeting. No proxy or postal votes will be accepted.
  • Nominations for the Executive Committee and the Youth Officer should be submitted in writing to the Secretary, as per Notice of the A.G.M.
  • Members enrolling after the 1st of May in any year will not be eligible to vote at the AGM in that year.
  • Subject to the availability of funds, the outgoing Executive Committee will recommend to the AGM to approve of a donation to a suitable charity or charities.
AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION.
  • The Constitution can be amended only if the Original Clause and the Amended Clauses is sent, in writing to the secretary, at least six weeks prior to the A.G.M., duly proposed and seconded.
  • The Amendment will be voted upon at the A.G.M. And it can only be deemed as approved if voted by two-thirds majority of the members present at the A.G.M.
